Subject: CAIPS questions
I have a couple of questions about my CAIPS file. I requested it more out of curiousity than anything else. I applied in August ´04 and received my AOR in Oct ´04, skilled worker class. I am a US citizen. I do have a list of CAIPS codes, which helps greatly. But I still have a few questions:

1. The note says "Paper File sent to LP" Who or what is LP? The homepage of www.caips.com says that "Paper File sent to KH" means the file was sent to Buffalo. Well I applied at Buffalo, so what does LP mean?

2. The bring forward date is Sept. 30, 2005. Does this mean the soonest the file will be looked at again is Sept. 30 of next year, or are files routinely reviewed before the bring forward date?

3. Finally something I find interesting. I got a "BDEC 1 07-10-2004" I guess this means I passed the security decision on October 7, 2004, which is only a couple weeks after I received my AOR. This doesn´t mesh with others say here. At another place, it indicates the security decision is valid until April 9, 2006. Does this mean I´ve already passed the security check? By the way, there are no entries under "CRIM", which I take means criminal background check.

Sorry to say but CAIPS notes are useless till you get initial assessment.

Hi grendel ...My CAIPS also said paper file sent to LP. Not sure what that means ...and yes I applied in Buffalo in Feb 2004. The BFD on mine was exactly one year from the date they started my processing. Since your processing started in Sept 2004, your BFD is now Sept 2005. I had the same question as you do that if the BFD is Sept 05 then are they not going to look at it before then. I think they will look at it before that for your IA.

answers and stuff (in reply to: CAIPS questions)
to all who have replied:

1. My timeline: Application received August 4, 2004
Processing Started September 30, 2004
AOR received October 5

2. To order CAIPS notes do a quick websearch. There are lots of companies which provide the service or in some instances, you can get them yourself. I can´t recommend any particular company.

3. My CAIPS notes were not useless. For a modest fee I learned I have got full points for both English and French ability, plus some other useful stuff. CAIPS notes give limited information, sure, and maybe for some people the cost isn´t worth it, but I was not disappointed.

4. Except maybe to learn that the Bring Forward date for my file is a full year from the date CIC began processing it. I hope I receive an Initial Assessment before then! Until I do, however, I guess I will just go on with my life.

It means they plan to look into your file by the "bring forward" date which means they can review the file before that date or assign a new "bring forward" date.
