Subject: Deputation from Canada to the USA
  Hi,

I am a holder of a Canadian PR card (received in May 2006) but currently living in Miami, USA . I applied for a job in Canada, and the company I applied to wants to hire me in Canada, but depute me to work in the USA.

I need to know whether it is possible to preserve my Canadian permanent resident status while I am deputed to work in the USA? I know I need to spend 2 out of 5 years in Canada.
Can I account for those two years even though I am deputed to USA?
If it is possible, then what does my hiring company need to do ( what docs required for immigration etc) so that I can preserve my Canadian PR status?

Thanks in advance.

Permanent Residence Obligations
Here is what you must do to comply with your residency obligations.

You must accumulate two years of physical presence in Canada in every five-year period. You can also count Canadian residency days if you are outside Canada for an extended period of time for one of the following reasons:

-You are accompanying your Canadian-citizen spouse or common-law partner.
-You are a child accompanying a Canadian-citizen parent.
-You are employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business, the Public Service of Canada or the public service of a Canadian province.

The hiring company is an American company but has a branch office in Canada. Does the branch office qualify as a Candian business?

Hi..........
I have been suffering for quite long and unable to get the answer for this situation.

I am a Canadian permanent resident and working for a Canadian OWNED company in U.S.

Questions is: what other requirements are there?
a. do i have to file canadian taxes? I´ll not be able to survive even if i have to pay both canadian and us taxes.....
b. who/where/how/when do i notify the canadian immigration that i´ve accepted a job in an usa location for a canadian company? and what other paperwork is necessary?
c. I havent received the PR card. due to some address mix up they didn´t send the PR card at first. Now that I am in usa, they said PR card can be sent to only people living inside canada. If i am outside - then I can apply for travel document at the nearest consulate.

If you know the answers to this.. THANK YOU. if you dont.. do you know who can give me the answer about at least some of these questions?

Thanks a lot.
