Subject: Im working in Canada, want to apply for US tourist
Hi all,

I am not a Canadian citizen but currently working in Canada (under working visa valid for 6 months - single entry).

I want to apply for US tourist visa... what´s the probability of being approved by the US embassy?

thanks,

jenny

Depends on:

1. Passport your are holding (for some countries as Middle eastern it is really tough, EU. countries it is much more easier).

2. The kind of job you are doing.

3. Background check.

4. Your Asset/bank statement.

Simply, you have to satisfy the visa officer that you won´t stary there permanantly and don´t have any criminal record.

Yes, Depends on situation, your nationality, you should also have a strong reason these days. or a good well planned travel plan with hotel booking etc but since u have single entry canadian visa u have to again take permit to enter canada.

If u reall want it apply for only 1 or 2 weeks visa, take holiday letter from your employer

Thanks for your reply. I am not from Middle eastern countries.

I just plan to visit nearby US cities like Seattle and Portland during weekends since its just 3 to 4 hours drive from Vancouver.

Also I´ve read that even if one has a single entry Canadian visa he/she can re-enter Canada from US.

"I plan to re-enter Canada after my visit to the United States. Do I need a single or multiple entry visa?

Your single-entry visa will allow you repeated entries to Canada from the USA within the period authorized for your stay in Canada. The authorized period of stay is the time granted by the port of entry officer at the time of your original entry to Canada or, if you have been granted an extension, the period allowed by your extension. However, if you leave Canada or the United States for another country within the period of your authorized stay, this is no longer applicable. You lose your temporary resident status once you leave Canada for another country other than the United States."

I didn´t know about the Canadian law; knwo that US has a similar law that allows you to re-enter USA from Canada within 21 days without visa if your status is OK.

Best thing would be, to be on the safe side, visit or call any Canadian POE and discuss with them before departing.

For US visa, remember, there is a long waiting time for the interview. Plan well ahead, you can schedule it on their website.

to get a visa u gotta get it from ur home country´s american embassy ......... ur work permit is only six month so to the interviewer it´s 90% case of trying to settle in the US to get more money........it works only if ur nationality is one of those who don´t need a visa to enter the US
