to be honest, I think they just plug along. Between summer holidays, thanksgiving, Christmas (only 2 days of official holiday), sick days, maternity leave... the pace of processing just carries on. We must remember something... to an immigration officer we are pieces of paper - not people with loved ones and holiday plans. The entire system is designed to remove emotion from decisions - too bad!

Dont be so harsh! (in reply to: Buffalo: processing slow due to Christmas?)
I just want to make a comment on behalf of many Canadians who would hate to read what you wrote.
Canadians are welcoming you to Canada, and doing their best to issue PR to those that apply.
Think about States! It takes more time and more paper work to immigrate to United States and many other countries around the world.
Waiting is pain in butt but patients is the key word.
Some people work really hard throughout the year and some of them deserve some break around holiday season.
Do you work hard every day? Do you deserve some time off? If so, immigration workers deserve too.

very well said. My comment was not an attempt to be disrespectful to our CIC officers but rather to point out that there are 1001 reasons why a file moves slower than we want it to. You are also very right that patience is the key to surviving this process. I would not want the responsibility of deciding someone´s future.

waiting for husband! (in reply to: Buffalo: processing slow due to Christmas?)
I am Canadian, waiting for my husband from States. It is hard that it is taking so long. There is 100,000 of people waiting like my husband, 100,000 like me, waiting for their spouses or families, but there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it. Just shut up and wait. Be patient and hope that everything will be over soon!

Well you cannot compare US´s immigration policy to Canada´s. US is only allowing the deserving candidates and Canada... well less said the better...

US vs. Canada immigration (in reply to: Buffalo: processing slow due to Christmas?)
For a spousal permanent residency application, take it from one who has done both----it is way easier to get into the US than visa (pun) versa.
