Subject: Sending Medicals before they're requested
  Hello everyone,

I applied for PR two years ago and was refused (not enough points on IELTS). This year I re-took IELTS, re-applied. I got my new AOR and Buffalo should probably contact me in Feb/March of next year regarding IA/interview.

My question is: is it possible to send medicals/FBI check before such are requested? The reason why I´m asking is that I´m on H1B in US and want to speed up the process any way I can (don´t we all) or will it backfire and I should just sit and wait until they contact me?

Thanks :)

there is no way to speed up a process and a huge disadvantage to taking medicals before requested. if your medicals expire before the process is complete - you will need to redo them and incure the costs. In addition, the medicals are only valid for 1 year and you must land within that time frame. The more time you have on your medicals the more flexiblity you have about your landing plans.

Very interesting question. I would send my medicals in advance too if this is a possiblity.. I wonder if anyone has done it before. I would even take the chance of having to retake the medicals if processing of the application takes longer than anticipated.

I can almost picture the face of the immigration office when (s)he sees that ALL supporting documents AND medicals are available at time of IA.

As for our application, we did everything we could to "help" speed up the process, i.e. we prepaid everything, took IELTS, submitted all requested documents from the very start. Well, everything but the medicals..

I hope someone has a good answer to your question Liv. I really do!

Good Luck to you and to everyone else in line for Canadian PR!

Uniden.

PS - Liv, how many points did you score the first time you took the IELTS? Did CIC specifically tell you that your application was refused due to insufficient IELTS points?

Sharon,

I understand the disadvantages, but is it indeed possible to take and submit the medicals before we are requested by CIC to do so?

I would take the medicals around the predicted IA time, not much earlier. So around the 10th-11th month (in USA)..

Considering the fact that I would like to land around the same time as I receive the approval, it wouldn´t be such a bad thing.

Uniden.

I don´t have a sure fire answer. I can only offer my personal opinion. Any time you mess with their (CIC) program you throw they system of its pace. I don´t think that is necessarily a good thing.

the only problem with submitting the medicals before they requested is that you need to bring forms that CIC sends you to the medical exam. the doctor then fills out the forms (and adds some additional ones) and sends them all to Ottawa -- how can you do this unless you have the forms in the first place? And you can´t get the forms until CIC sends them, so your idea really will not work. sorry.

Thank you for everyone´s answers. This is pretty much what I thought -- should wait for them to contact me.

As for your question, Uniden, I was 2 points off the first time I applied. I was aware that I lacked points on IELTS and included proof of taking French courses at the University but the officer didn´t take it into the consideration, so I hope the second time is a charm for me. Though it feels like I´ve been immigrating to Canada forever... Thanks again.

Sharon, I agree. On my quest to make everything better, I may end up making it worse.

Grendel, that makes sense. I didn´t know about the CIC medical forms. I thought CIC only requests the medicals to get done and that´s it. For US immigration purposes you can download the medical forms from the Internet and submit to the medical tests at your convenience.

Liv, you will succeed this time around! You did the most important thing you could have done: YOU DID NOT GIVE UP!

Uniden.

question for all of you, how you gotta get medical form A, if there is no IA.. Buffalo has to mail you medical form 3 pages with your photo on that, then you can go to do medical? This is different from family class, you do not get your form from DMP

Right now it takes just a few weeks from the time Ottawa receives your medicals to PPR. Why mess with the system on the hopes of gaining literally a couple of weeks? I know it´s hard, but be patient. Good luck!
