  Hi all in this forum!
I have one question;
If you are citizen of Canada or have PR can you work in US?

I am thinking if after moving Canada I can´t find a job in Canada just try look for some job in US. Is my status will allow me to do that? I have US degree which I got a few years ago.

Thank you for your reponse. Please reply if you know such kind of issues!

No. They are separate countries. You will have to apply for worker visa like any other non-American. Sorry I can´t help you with work visas, but maybe someone here can. Good luck.

Totally depends on your situation.

Canadian PR doesn´t have any privelages. If you are a PR, you have to go through usual H-1 visa, in this hot US market you even should have no problem finding an employer willing to sponsor you H-1. if you are not from Visa waived countries then you also have to take consular Visa in your passport.

Citizen can obtain US work permit (call TN status) very easily at the border if offered a job from an US employer related to his/her degree/experience. You may check official http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm site for the eligibility of the occupations (not all occupations are allowed, like computer programmar, not allowed) and requirements.

BUT, you have to wait for 3+1 =4 years to get the Canadian citizenship.

It seems that you are planning in a proper way, good luck.

TN status (in reply to: Hi all in this forum! I have one question; ...)
Shah, you mentioned that ´computer programmar´ is not allowed to get TN visa. I´m really surprised.

I am a software engineer and I really believe I can get a TN visa from canada to work in usa if I want to.

Can you please provide the exact link on the "http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm" site which states that ´computer programmar´ is not eligible for TN visa.

Yes, I´m 100% positive that computer programmar is not allowed in TN class. BUT, you don´t need to be worried. This is just a matter of language play well done by the lawyers. I know programmars go to the US under the umbrella of job title "System Analyst". Just your employers has to write your job description as a SA rather than programmar and you have to justify how your degree and experience are related to SA. Once your TN is approved, then you are free to do anything. However, now a days, INS is becoming very sneaky into SA title and refusal rate is higher. You should be very careful about the job description.

It is now passive for the last many months, but still you should be able to learn all you need to know about TN, H-1, GC. Extremely helpful site with many knowledgeable professionals. Probably the owner, Mr. Grasmick an American immigration lawyer started losing some of his clients and made it passive.

By the way, just noticed that you have degree in software engineering. In TN class, ´Engineer" is a very safe class. The title of your degree is very very important to be approved. INS officer basically try to match your degree+Experience with the job offer letter you are poresenting. If don´t see strong relationship, then reject. Like many programmars with Mechanical/Civil/Electrical university degree get rejected specially who are not aware of this.

Seema, I´m not an IT professional, don´t know the minute details. But still it is possible depending on your offered position. But yes, if it is 100% programming or web developing, you´ll be refused. If it is Hardware Engineering (like Micro processor or VLSI), or System Analyst, should be OK.
But you must evaluate your Indian degree in US standard. That is not a big deal, will take some money, that´s it.
Check the 2 sites that I mentioned earlier, you´ll learn a lot.

Also, H-1 will be open if TN is not approved.
