Subject: american marrying a canadian and moving to canada
I have been in a 2 year relationship with a canadian (we met on line) and we have evolved to the point of wanting to marry and move there.....I have vistited over 7 times in the last year and we trully are in love and I am ready to take the next step of moving to Canada to be with him....I am aware there is something called an ´approval in principle´ that takes 6 or more months to process in order for a new arrival to work in Canada...here is my question....as planned we are going to marry as they say "inland" in Canada...we have heard that in this way, it is automatic that I can live there and then apply for an ´approval in priciple´....what we plan to do is I will come to canada with my belongings through the border and tell them I plan to visit for a bit (isn´t 6 months the maximum one can visit Canada?)then once I am there we will get married and wait for the ´approval in principle´....OR....should I marry him first and then will Canadian Immigration allow me to come back to the states to retrieve my belongings....how does that work?...anyone know?...can marrying a Canadian "inland" be this simple for an American....it seems from reading some of the other posts that others are having difficulty....is my situation no different?....I chose not to become a PR the long way (processing papers, immigrations, etc.)....I´ve heard marraige inland makes it fast and final....any feedback would be much appreciated.

I think..... (in reply to: american marrying a canadian and moving to canada)
I think if you are planning to get married, that you do so (do it in States because you can get marriage certificate faster in States) and then apply for PR. The whole process will be shorter if you do that way. If you come to Canada for 6 months, you will not be able to work and sitting at home will be boring.

thanks jassy for your response....actually I read on a a website recently that in Vancouver there is no waiting time for a marraige certificate, it is immediate, as opposed to other provinces in Canada that may take up to weeks for the marraige certificate....waiting 6 months for the ´approval in principle´ is not the issue, I will at that time have money saved and I also can create income through my paintings, so that´s not a problem....my question is...do I marry first in Canada and THEN come through the border with my belongings and husband with me, or to come to Canada through the border with my belongings and tell them I am planning on visiting (but not mention marraige) and then get marraied once in Vancouver....and also another question is, can it be done this way?.....I heard marrying inland is quicker...thanks for any responses
