Subject: Address rejected at landing
  Hi everybody,

Can somebody give us advice on what to do in our situation. We landed in Canada a couple of days ago and the Immigration officer asked us for our address. We were giving her our lawyer?s address and she didn?t accept it. She gave us a form to send with our permanent address whenever we get one. We told her we were going to Ottawa but the issue now is that we applied to the federal skilled worker program and now we decided to live in Quebec. Can we use our Montreal address for the PR card and not have a problem, since we told her we were going to Ottawa? We also got our SIN number in Quebec with no problem, but we are not sure about what to do for our PRs. Any suggestions would be really appreciated,

Thanks.

Ask your Lawyer that is what you paid him/her for.

We had the same problem, the IO rejected the address we provided as well (a friend´s address). I´d never heard of this happening to anyone. We also got the form to complete "once we move to Canada" (we returned to the US the day we landed, and were honest in our intentions). I´m not sure if we´ll wait until we move, or if we can complete it beforehand, but it´s causing me a lot of stress. I know technically you don´t need the PR card until you actually live there; still, it would be nice to have everything finalized.

Not sure what you should do about using your Montreal address; technically if you´re moving directly to Quebec you need to go through their specific system, so I´d suppose your address would be rejected on those grounds. However, you can officially move to Ontario and then move to Quebec without jumping through any hoops. Hope this helps.

If anyone else has their address rejected by the IO at landing, I´d appreciate hearing about it.

We gave our friend´s address and it was accepted - now have PR cards from them. Very strange the the IO didn´t accept your friend´s adress. In our crossings so far, I noticed that Canadian customs and immigration offficers can have a variety of different attitudes and moods, depending on which one happens to look at your papers. Don´t worry, I would just provide the same friend´s address on the form and send it in, or you can also provide it online.

You can go an fill the canadian address(permanent) where the card needs to be sent on cic website. Once it is done you will get your card.

Do some research on cic website related to PR cards.
