Subject: Applying for Temp. Res. Visa After Submitting P.R.
I would like to know if it´s possible for my wife to apply for a temporary resident visa after we submit the Permanent Resident application? My wife, who is from Cuba, was in Canada earlier this year. We got married in June, and then she returned to Cuba and we applied for another temporary resident visa in July. This was denied, because they said that they didn´t beleive that she would return to Cuba, and they suggested we start the permanent resident application (which we were going to start for her in Canada had she been allowed to return as a visitor). I am going to be submitting the P.R. application very soon, and afterwards we were planning to apply for a Temporary Resident visa so that she could wait for her PR here in Canada. Is it likely that she will be granted the visa this time? She already came here and proved that she would return, so it´s totally absurd to have them tell me that she won´t go back.

Thanks,

Michael

Too Much Waiting (in reply to: Applying for Temp. Res. Visa After Submitting P.R.)
That sounds very optimistic. I´ve been told that it´ll take possibly three months just to get myself cleared as a sponsor. Then the application will have to be sent to Cuba where it´ll sit in a pile for maybe 5 or 6 more months. I think I could be looking at 7-10 months total.

Anyways we´ve waited long enough. My wife has proved that she visited Canada and returned to her country. We did the right thing, and shouldn´t be penalized for it. My question was if she will be allowed to return to Canada as a visitor after her P.R. application has been submitted, and if so what is the likelyhood of her being granted the Temp. Res. visa?

Thanks,

Michael
