Subject: COPR validity
  Hi folks,

Couple of questions -

1. On application approval, how much time is usually given for first entry. i.e. what is the typical validity on a COPR visa.

2. Also, i read that we need to be in the country for 2 of every 5 year period to maintain the residentship. Are there any other conditions to this.

Thanks in advance.

1. COPR normally expires 1 year after you took your medicals.

2. That´s correct. Canadian Immigration Law says that "a permanent resident must live in Canada for at least 730 days (two years) within a five-year period. In some situations, time spent outside Canada may count. All permanent residents must comply with this residency requirement or risk losing their status."
(I believe the exceptions are when someone works abroad for a Canadian company or for the Canadian Govt.)

COPR Validity-Ready for Visa Letter (in reply to: COPR validity)
Hello!

I received an email (on Feb 18) from CIC mentioning that my application is almost complete. I have been asked to send my passports for issuance of visa and COPR.

My medicals were done last year (March 23,2013). So I would like how much time might be given to me (validity of visa and COPR) to enter Canada, since I am less than a month away from medicals expiration date of 1 year.
