Subject: IELTS - Proof of English test |

Hi there,
I´ve been asked by the Canadian High Commission in London to sit an English test conducted by IELTS, of course to prove that I can speak the language.
Unfortunately, I haven´t had the time to do it, and the deadline is nearing. I am actually a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (though on my original application of 2 years ago I was in Marketing. I recently changed careers), and hold a CELTA certificate to prove it. I´m wondering if my Cambridge CELTA certificate would have any bearing on the matter.
Is this about proving that I speak English, or is it about which testing body (IETLS, TEFL, ESOL, CELTA, etc...) does the exams?
I am unable to contact the Canadian High Commission in London as they have never included their phone numbers or email anywhere. I actually live in London at the moment as I´m a student enrolled in a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) program at a university here.
Any advice is really appreciated!
Cheers,
Alma

- It´s not only for speaking!!!. Actually, there are 4 modules given. To test that the applicant UNDERSTAND English. If your NATIVE language is not English, then, you are required to get one.
