Landing fee, when?

Subject: Landing fee, when?
I haven´t got PPR yet, but medicals sent a few months ago. I am wondering when should one pay the landing fee. Are they going to specifically ask to pay it? or paying it after the medicals are done can make things faster?. It sounds weird to sent the fee without final approval, but on one of the instructions sheets it is stated that this fee can be paid anytime during the processing.

Looking forward to your thoughts on this.
Thanks.

I am surprised you didn´t pay this when you got your IA. Did your IA not specifically request it? We paid ours when we submitted our application, but there was a check box on our IA for possible things they might request. Definitely send it in now, at any rate.

wannabecanadian, there are two type of fees. One was to send with the application, which is application processing fee, just brought a mention to clarify we are not talking about that...

The landing fee is what some 495 dollars per person? is what you are talking about right?. I am not asked in specific to pay that yet, however in the instructions for police certificate etc, and change in family status instructions did say at the end that this fee can be paid anytime during the processing.

Let me know if I need to send this fee right now?

Again thanks for your help.

When to pay landing fee (in reply to: Landing fee, when?)
It is true that you don´t have to pay the landing fee when you submit your application, but if you didn´t pay it when you submitted your application I would wait until they ask for it before you do pay it. At this stage of the game I don´t think paying it now, out of the blue so to speak, is going to hurry things along any. Don´t worry - lots of people are asked for it just prior to or when receiving their passport request and it is not a big issue. Besides, paying it after they request it means you´ll have all the information you need as to where you should send the receipts, etc., instead of "blindly" mailing something as important as a receipt for $490 to CIC and then worrying about whether or not they received it.

I paid both when we submitted our application. We are indeed talking about the same thing, and I shared my experience with you.

Again, if I were you, I´d pay it now rather than hold up the process. It won´t speed things up per se, but at least you won´t have to wait while they ask for it and process it later when you are so close to the end now.

You do not need to "blindly" send it and "hope" they receive it; you can send it via registered mail and you will receive a confirmation of receipt.

My two cents.
