Subject: Refugee Sponsorship
  Hi

I am a Zimbabwean asylum seeker who has lived in the UK for the past five years. I applied for asylum in 2001 but I still have not been granted it.

My sister recently moved to Canada and I started looking for ways to get there.
I got 72 points on the skilled worker assesment but my problem is that my passport has expired and I cannot get a new passport from Zimbabwean authorities as I have fled as a polotical refugee.

I looked up on refugee sponsoring and I think I fit in the category where
1. I am at risk of being persecuted on return to my country.
2. I have not found a safe country to resettle and may not be able to do so in reasonable time ( 5 + years is a long time)

My application for asylum in the UK is being considered by the Home office . The problem I have is that I cannot find information on spponsors in Canada. With the information I would begin the process of application. I am thinking that I have to have contact with a sponsor in Canada first before I fill out any application forms. I may be wrong .

My questions are :
1) Can I go on with my application for permanent residence as a skilled worker considering that I donot have a passport. Will I be able to get some form of travel documents ?

2) How do I go about the whole process of being sponsored as a refugee in Canada and if finding a refugee sponsor in Canada is the first step in the process how do I get hold of one ?

I doubt you were legally admitted to the UK for a year if you made a refugee clai9m there. Therefore you have to submit your SW application in the country your running away from orthat countries Visa Post which you never mentioned.
