Subject: Singapore !
Hi there , I think I am relatively young(24 yo now)in age comparing to other participants in this forum. I´m gonna apply in Dec 2007 with 3 years working experience in IT. I am a citizen of Bangladesh and Singapore is the place I will be applying ( that is where people from here apply).

Ive heard that people applying after January 2007 will get their PPR after 5 years. is that true? People who applied in 2000,2001,2002 used to get their PPR in 2-3 years.

Jnathan,

I don´t know where you´ve heard what you´ve heard, but there nothing better than the REAL statistics provided by CIC itself and by the actual applicants:

CIC states that skilled worker applications filed in Singapore take between 34 and 54 months to process:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/02a-skilled-fed.html

You can also check this page, which shows processing timelines provided by applicants:
http://www.trackitt.com/canada-immigration-trackers/federal-skilled-workers/

Good Luck!

PS - Never believe gossip unless you can confirm it!

I read that from your other post Uniden.
See this
his case is 72 months old and he is yet to get his PR. although the link you posted says it would need 54 months.

I am seriously thinking to first get my PR in New zealand and then filing my application from there for CAN PR as it would need 27 months max from Sydney, according to that page you provided.

There are always exceptions to the rules.. There is no guarantee that you will receive any PR in the first place. It only takes this long to PROCESS your application, not to APPROVE it.

Some people make it record low time to an approved PR, some wait way over the maximum time as it is listed on CIC´s page. Some don´t make it at all.. It´s all in the stars. There is a certain degree of influence that you have, such as preparing your application as required, with all supporting documents and information. Avoid unnecessary communication with CIC and don´t give them a reason to contact you. Be a perfect applicant! :)

My application is pending too, in Buffalo, and I sure hope that it will take it far less than the 19 months listed on CIC´s website to get through the whole process.

As for New Zealand.., it has a price too. Their PR doesn´t come for free. It will cost you money and time. Should you decide to really go that route, and if your main goal is still to arrive in Canada some day as a PR, and if you do not lack the necessary funds, then apply for both PRs at the same time :)

Good Luck!

(in reply to: Singapore !)
yah big burp, nowadays, Agents who process applications on behalf of the applicants ask for a 5 year waiting period for a final response from cic. earlier they´d take 3 years. yah, more n more applicants are applying and the queue is getting longer everyday. but, people like me would generally seek the way to have the shortest waiting time for the Canadian PR. PR ´for´ Newzealand (not from NZ) takes like 6-8 months only.

I wonder what will happen If I get married after the submission of my Application to cic as a skilled worker!!

Hi, just some information for you.
I am a Singaporean and submitted the application (skilled worker) to Singapore CHC in Jun 2004. At that time the time taken to Final Decision for skilled worker is between 16 months to 36 months. (compared with 34 to 54 months now)

I received their 2nd letter in Oct 2006 confirming that I have met the assessment pass mark. The next step is to receive medical instruction sometime in 2007.
