Hi everyone first of all good luck to everyone trying out there...
My situation: I have just received a temp work permit for a year and started to work. I really want to stay in the country now as a perm resident, and well the job they hired me for kind of sucks. Im underpaid and do work im over qualified for but i dont have a choice. The work permit will only allow me to work for this company.
I was wondering how do i go in applying for permanent residency so i can change jobs?
Ive gone over the site numerous times but the procedure is confusing and it seems very lengthy i was hoping once i started working it would be alot easier...is it?

Hello,
You better apply first at Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) in the province where you are working. At the same time apply for your Permanent Residence if you did not make one. Once you are nominated in PNP it will just take a maximum of 9 months to get your PR visa.

You can change employers now that you have been admitted for one year. Go to the In Canada application and forms--To Work and fill the form in once you find a new employer.
Ontario is the only province that currently has no PNP program but that is to change any day. The potential employer will want to know when you can commence employment and you can´t until your authorized to do so.
This will greatly increase your chances of a quick change in your status.

If you are a woman and good looking, go find a canadian man, marry him and immediately start spousal sponsorship. Good luck.

THIS IS A VERY OLD THREAD!
How do they keep comming back? You have to get another LMO then use the In-Canada worker forms to switch employers after you get a new contract.
