Subject: Experienced Friends !! [About Birth Certificate]
  Friends,
I am filling my form.

My passport [From India] clearly mentions Date of Birth on it.
Do I need to give additional supporting Birth Certificate?

I dont have birth certificate with me [Did you applied with birthcertificate copy or just Passport mentioning it would be Enough??]

Personally, I filed my application with a certified copy of my birth certificate. If CIC asks for it, provide it. If you don´t have the original with you, the have someone in India copy it an notarize it. A passport is not a substitute for a birth certificate.

Good Luck!

Let me second Uniden´s opinion. They need a birth certificate and the passport will not do.

I also applied at Buffalo and had my birth certificate translated and notarized in my home country. My parents then sent it to me and I included it in my aplication.

Good luck!

Yep, you must provide a notarized copy of your birth certificate. My local library card also clearly shows my date of birth, but can most certainly not be used in place of a birth certificate!

Annon, Thanks very much.

Uniden,
Thanks for your first reply.
Regarding your second reply, let me remind you passport cannot be compared with you so called local library Card.

Uniden, you are great help to this community, but just make sure that you are getting right view of a person and dont take things in wrong sense. [I am just shocked to see you compared library card with passport]

Lucky,

Please return from your shock! No need to get there :)

Most people make things complicated by starting to interpret simple straight-forward things unnecessarily.

Simple things should remain simple!
Examples:
When asked for a copy of your birth certificate, provide a copy of your birth certificate.
When asked for a passport, provide a passport.

I was never asked to provide a library card, so I never provided CIC with a library card.
It was only an example of a "document" that also clearly displays my date of birth.

Take it easy and take my words about the library card as a joke if you so wish..
Also, if you wish to substitute the notarized copy of your birth certificate with a copy of your passport and some sort of written explanation, you may also do that at your expense. I just wish to remind everyone that CIC´s words should be taken AS-SAID (or AS-WRITTEN), and should not be twisted, interpreted, or ignored because one sees it fit better a certain situation.

Kindest regards,

Uniden
