Subject: IELTS as prerequisite to begin application?
Hi friends...maybe any of you know if I need to have the results of my IELTS exam to present my initial application for Federal Skilled Workers.

In the new simplified form, they ask to write the results for the IELTS exam, can I take the exam after and submit the results with the rest of papers 6 months after??

Any hep will be aprreciated.

You can submit IELTS later.

Please read this excerpt from CIC´s "Simplified Application Process" website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/faq-simple.html#Q4):

Q4: What does the supporting documentation to be provided later include?

Supporting documentation would include education documents or other certificates attesting to the educational level, employment letters confirming work experience, language test results, police certificates, birth and marriage certificates, and bank statements confirming the applicant?s funds.

I hope this helped.

Good Luck with filing your application soon!

Not so clear (in reply to: IELTS as prerequisite to begin application?)
Hi Uniden, I have checked the Simplified Application Form, the problem is that they ask you to declare your proficiency in English...and with the levels High, Moderate, Basic and None.

Does these levels has to coincide with the real level of my test exam?? how can I fill in this levels if I havent taken the IELTS yet??

Thanks for you response or any response...

Frank,

Estimate your own English proficiency. You already know how much English you know..
Hopefully, the IELTS test score will support, and officially confirm that.

Frank,

If you haven´t applied yet and are in the process of gathering all the required documents/clearances, I suggest you take IELTS now and send the results with your application. It will save you atleast 3 months during processing later.
I did that while I was waiting for my FBI and other Police clearances, got IELTS result just 7 days after I got other docs and sent the results with the application.

If you´re not waiting for any other document, you may send the application without IELTS and with some sort of explanation and evidence that your English is as good as you claim it to be. You may want to prepare for the exam once you send the application so that you don´t waste much time if and when they ask you to submit IELTS results.

Thanks BigB,

But now I can only apply under the new simplified process in the federal skilled worker class, and in this new process, it says, that I can not present any document initially, only the application form and the payment check.

After 4-6 months I can present de supporting documents. The problem is that I plan to take the IELTS in january and have the result by the end of January and they ask me in the form about my level of english. So, what happens if I dont get after the level I fill in on the form..

Thanks anyway for your reply.

Frank,

I am in the US and I have a pending skilled worker application in Buffalo. No, I am not a consultant :)
I just like simple, factual information rather than guessing and misinterpretation. When I learn something, I share it with people in similar situations.
Most Canadian immigration documents were designed to be understood by the people supposed to use them. There is little room for guessing. The vocabulary is very basic and you do not need to be a rocket scientist to understand.. Put it this way, even I understand their documents!

..Now back to your problem:
I gave you a list with documents that do not need to submit yet. But eventually they will have to be submitted sooner or later. BigB is right: Better now than later! (if you can do it now, of course!)

I also recommend to send as much as you can now with your application. The more you send now, the less you will be "bothered" by CIC later, the less delay in processing your application. Each request for missing documents will cost you valuable time.

Frank,

WHERE will you submit your application? I mean which visa center? You know that Buffalo doesn´t accept simplified process applications, right?

I just read that supporting documents are being returned by CIC if sent before requested. Funny, I didn´t know that.. I learn something new every day :)

CIC quote from the same page I posted above:
"If you apply after September 1, 2006, (under the simplified application process) no supporting documents are accepted at the outset. Please only submit your language test results once you have been asked by the visa office to submit supporting documentation. Any documents submitted prior to this will be returned. If you take the language test within one year of submitting your simplified application, those results remain valid and will be accepted as supporting documentation by the visa office."

I did not file under simplified process, so I am not very familiar with it. Sorry. I learn as I go.

Hi Uniden,

I think you got now the essence of the simplified system: you can not submit with your application any supporting documents. But I also think what you told me its also truth: I can fill in the level of english I suspect I can get in the exam, and I suppose hat If I dont get that level afterwards, they will ask me to get that level to pass the evaluation but I wont pay again.

Uniden, just something curious> why if you are american, you can immigrate to USA, people tell me that in USA there is more job opportunities than in Canada, is that truth?

Thanks Uniden!

Frank... if you are righting your own posts, I would put down ´high´.

the question should be - if I put down moderate - would you still have 67 points.

Frank,

Sharon is right, do the math in either case. If you are right at the pass mark, then make sure your IELTS scores are 7-9 for all tests, in which case you will receive maximum language points for your PR application.

And to answer your other question: No, I am not American at all. I am in the US indeed, but as an immigrant who recently lost legal status. You may be right, the job market may be better in the US, but that is only from a statistical point of view. From a personal point of view, I believe that anyone can get a job anywhere with just the right attitude! If you want it, you CAN get it. I am an optimist by default and I will do my darndest to achieve all my goals in life. I think Canada has a great potential for me and I have some great potential for Canada. Watch me! :)

Good Luck!

Oh, by the way.. I see this all the time:

Canadians who move to the US say that they moved because Canada sucks and US rocks, while people moving from US to Canada say that US sucks and Canada rocks.

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!

..but these people will ALWAYS be on the other side of the fence, no matter where they are!

:)
