Subject: How long does it take to get the visa? |

Hello there, I´m a young professional from Venezuela looking for better oportunities abroad. I read about the Skilled worker visa and I got really interested in going to Canada, specially Vancouver or BC that is, since I went there a couple of years ago and fell in love with the place. (Is that a good place to go, btw, or should I choose another one?)
I was wondering how long does it usually take from the time you send your application until you get your visa. I know it´s a very long wait but I´d like to have some numbers or something to know what awaits me.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers.

(in reply to: How long does it take to get the visa?) www.cic.gc.ca - start here. there is lots of great information. every country/embassy has a different wait time. depending on your skills, there may be some opportunities for a work permit or nominee program that could get you to Canada quicker.
The first thing to learn in this process is that there is nothing quick about Canadian immigration.

(in reply to: How long does it take to get the visa?) I agree with Sharon, we are past that golden period where
the PR used to take only 1-2 years. Now it ranges anywhere
between 2-6 years depending upon the embassy the application is being processed at.
