Subject: Goods to follow issue/question
I am new to this board. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

Here is my story: I am an American who married a Canadian citizen. I was able to obtain permanent resident status rather quickly and I landed in late Oct. 2005, but my job has kept me in the US until the end of this month (Jan 07). When I landed (via airport), the customs officer was very nice and said that I could fill out the goods to follow list at a later date. Unfortunately, she did not say that this paperwork was due within two weeks after I landed.

I am just filling out the goods to follow forms now for my move later this month. What is the likelihood that I will have to pay duty on all of my furtniture and other possessions when I cross the border? How much will it be? Where should I cross if I am moving (and importing my car) to southern Ontario -- Buffalo or Niagara Falls?

Thanks in advance for any help. I have been researching this stuff like crazy but I can´t seem to find the answers I am looking for.

Ed
