Hi, I have a question and thought someone here might be able to help. I have recently become a permanent resident of Canada and is living in USA on H1. I am getting married next month in India and my spouse will accompany me to USA on H4 dependent visa. Now the question i have is that would i be able to sponsor my spouse while in USA or do i need to reside in Canada to apply for her. Is it possible for me to apply for her from US and if needed bring her to Canada on tourist visa while application is in process. Or do i need to apply for her from India?
Advice is apprecited!
Thanks

(in reply to: sponsor spouse of permanent resident) Read Regulation 11 your spouse must be admitted to the states for one year to apply even for a CVV through Buffalo or another consulate. You can not sponsor your spouse unless you a (PR) resides in Canada.

(in reply to: sponsor spouse of permanent resident) Hello Roy,
Thanks for your prompt reply. So, i cannot apply for her from outside Canada. Do i need to apply in Canada or India if i come to Canada and she remain in India at time of application ?
Also, can i bring her with me to Canada on say visitor visa and then apply for her PR in Canada.
Please advice.
Thanks!
