I have a good friend of mine that wants to visit my wife and I. We are willing to pay for his airfare and he will stay with us. He has completed the application, we have provided a letter of invitation, photocopy of our passporst and birth certificates to the embassy and asked that if anything else was needed we would respond.
They have denied his visa, but provived no information as to why?
What should our next step be? I have found a 5476 form (use of a representative) would it be easier if we went this route? and act as his representative?

I am just getting ready to post almost the exact same question. The question is ´has anyone had success securing a visitors visa while a PR application is in process?´
My experience - we have 3 failed attempts at securing a Temporary Visa for my fiance who lives in Tunisia. He has 2 successful trips (he came and went when he promised) to the US but it does not seem to help. We want to try again, but I was hoping someone could offer me some great tips on how to improve our chances.
After our last failed attempt I contacted my local MP because I was so outraged. What my MP told me was that it is very hard to track and remove (deport) someone who overstays a visitors visa. If someone is coming from a 3rd world country, there is added doubt that they would want to return home unless they have a business or property or children. Young men, and elderly parents are particularly troublesome. Unfortunately, their concern is based on past realities.
They told me the embassies will lean towards caution. If there is any thought that the applicant will not return home - it is better that they say no right away.

Once I was in Canadian embassy in my country and an applicant wanted to visit friends in Canada the officer told him u must have at least 25000S CDN in bank to get this visa.
