Subject: Police Clearence from Multiple Countries |

Hello everyone,
I have applied for permanent residency in Canada with the buffalo office. I have lived in both India and Malaysia prior to coming to Canada. The Indian hi-com says that they would provide police clearence certificates to Indian nationals only. This is where I am getting hooped. This means I will not be able to obtain police clearence for my stay in India since I am a Malaysian national. Does anyone know how I could convince CIC about my problem? Would a written letter work?
I have also sent a typed version of my english proficiency letter. Some of you suggested that this may not be acceptable. Please advice further in this regard.

(in reply to: Police Clearence from Multiple Countries) Are you or did you at any time hold Indian citizenship? If yes; you can get a PIO card from Indian consulate and that is good enough proof (passport or PIO cards issued in last 6 months themselves are proof of clearance).
If you never held Indian citizenship; it may help to contact someone you know in India - i.e. where you lived to obtain the same from local police office.
However; it is always a good idea to write a letter of explanation about any problems obtaining any document and letting CIC know the appox. extra time you may need or any other document which will be a good substitute.
