| Subject: Documents required to enter Canada form the US |

Hi,
Just a quick question. I am going to the States sometime soon. I have the requred Visa. I am currently in canada on a work permit. I know I don´t need a visa to enter canada since i am going only to the states. just wondering if i should take any other documents with me oe just the work permit is fine to get back.

On a different note, my son is 17, and is a Canadian citizen living in the United States. He will be traveling to Canada this summer with our family. He does not have a passport. According to the new USA requirements he will be able to use his US Permanent Resident Card (green card) to RETURN to the States by air, but we wanted to ensure that Canada would also accept the green card in addition to his Canadian birth certificate upon his entry into Canada by air. The green card does have his photo. Please advise if anyone has info to help us.

I just found this link in my favorites when I was cleaning it out. Belatedly, I thought perhaps this information will be helpful to others. We dug further and discovered that as a Canadian living in the US my son did not need a Canadian passport to travel into Canada or return to US. He just needed his green card. That is how he traveled last year. This summer (of ´08) he is working in Canada with his uncle and took his birth certificate to apply for his Social Insurance Number when he arrives. They said the process would be quick in receiving a temporary number until the card follows. This is all he needs to work there. Hope this info helps someone. I´m off this forum now. Good luck!
