I have a question concerning the application for a visa to Canada:
I am 18 years old and I am from Germany. I want to come to Canada for a year starting this summer. I have contact to some families where I could stay for a year as an Au Pair (not as a professional Caregiver, because I do not have the qualifications of a Caregiver) or to help out on a ranch. Which visa do I have to apply for?

Canada immigration system is very straight-forward. The first decision you need to make is: Do you want to VISIT Canada, or WORK in Canada? If you plan to work at your friends´ ranch, you will need a work visa, which you need to first qualify for. If you plan to just visit your friends, and milk the cow every morning to get the milk on the breakfast table, then get a tourist visa. I am not sure how long you can get a tourist visa for, but it may be for less than 1 year. There is always the possibility to extend your visa.
