Subject: got landing papers-common law doesnt want to go
  Hi there
a delicate and personal question here...
i just got my landing papers...and my common law partner doesnt want to accompany me anymore to canada...
when i do land, whats the appropriate way of approaching this question?
the truth that we broke up, and for her it is not a feasable option?
or
that she will be coming later (which of course isnt the truth)

any inputs guys?...

this happened pretty recent and before i could inform the CIC about the change in status, i had already gotten my papers...

thanks in advance!

AD,

In case of any doubt always go with the truth! Everything else is a lie, and also has the potential to create more problems than you need.

Who´s the principal applicant?

If you are, you may land without her and once her visa expires if she hasn´t enter Canada she wouldn´t be able to extended.

If she is the principal applicant, you should contact the Canadian Embassy where the application was processed for instructions before you depart to Canada.

Thanks Uniden and Bill
i guess the truth is the least complicated...i was just wondering how not to make it too personal a story...the real reason is that she has a good job/we broke up/and she doesnt quite fancy this move to canada...should i just say it like it is?
Bill I am the PRINCIPAL APPLICANT...so that issue isnt a worry...but yeah was wondering subconciously , if landing without a common law could impair the procedure or not...i am sure this isnt too uncommon or extreme a situation?

thanks again guys for the speedy inputs!

AD,

You are the principal applicant, so you have nothing to worry about!
Just land, and IF ASKED tell the truth that your partner is an "Ex", and you are moving to Canada alone. Just go about your own business. You will be fine. Do not answer unasked questions. People who give to many unsolicited details usually ..lie.

Good Luck!
