Subject: a PR marry a guy holding short-term VISA? |

I became a PR in Aug 2004 and ´ve been away from Canada for 2.5 years. Then I´ve been living in HK and I met a guy ( my own gender) in Beijing and we fell in love. We can´t get married in China as it´s not legal. I met him once every 4 months and we hardly produce any evidence that we have been living together. Was told that my boyfriend (bf) couldn´t get a Family Reunion VISA though I see him as my fiance. I´ve considered arranging him to get a Student VISA to enter Canada but the Consulate in Beijing is very cautious when they handle this kind of application. And they look for a lot of financial evidence to prove that my bf can self-finace his study in Canada.
Can anyone tell me if a PR can marry a tourist in Canada? If yes, how can he apply for a Marriage licence? What is the usual procedure to get marriage in Toronto?
Million thanks in advance!

(in reply to: a PR marry a guy holding short-term VISA?) the hardest part will be getting your fianc?e a visitor visa to enter Canada! Your chances are almost zero! And yes if he was in Canada as a visitor you could get married.
