Subject: Renewing passport after PP stamp - Urgent help req
My wife applied for a Federal Skilled Worker Immigration visa (dependent) and got an Immigrant Visa stamped on her passport in Jan 2007. She is an Indian citizen.

Her Indian passport on which the Canadian Immigrant visa is stamped has only 1 blank page left now.
She has to travel abroad for a business trip before she moves to Canada (as a permanent resident) in March. Since traveling abroad without sufficient blank passport pages is not advisable, she is planning to renew her passport.

As per the Indian Embassy in Washington DC, a renewed passport will have a "new passport number".

My questions are:

1. Since the Confirmation of Permanent Resident document has the current passport number, will there be a problem while landing in Canada with a renewed passport?

2. Also, since the Immigrant visa stamp is in her current passport, will she need to get the visa re-stamped upon getting a renewed passport?

Renewing PP (in reply to: Renewing passport after PP stamp - Urgent help req)
1) You can apply for extra pages to be attached to your current PP at some extra chgs by the Indian embassy

2) If you renew your PP then the old PP which has a valid visa will be attached to the new PP & the new PP will also have a mention of the old PP

Thanks for your reply Louis.

I had also emailed the Canadian Embassy. They told me that she just needs to present both her passports.
