Last Monday I got a family back (pro bono) who had been deported from Canada. They left April 1st 2006 (no fools joke) after being given some very bad Immigration advice from persons who can speak Portuguese.

The father got a work permit and two of his daughters got student visas and went back to the same school they had been attending for a couple of years. The third daughter is just a few months old.

There were hugs and kisses for everyone and all were so happy then......a certain Portuguese speaking President of a Canadian Portuguese organization said he personally knew of 12 such cases and that 80% of the 400 or so that were removed (deported)were already back or in the process of coming back.

This person is also an Immigration Consultant but the article never mentioned that detail nor researched who these 12 families were.

Yesterday there was this article from an author I respect and know. Read this http://www.metronews.ca/column.aspx?id=26814

When somebody says something in the media that can not be verified or confirmed it leaves one with little options. I contacted CIC and was told CIC & CBSA keep no records of these types of stats.

I KNOW I DID SOMETHING REALLY UNUSUAL AND DIFFICULT AND THE FAMILIES HAPPINESS WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME BUT I WANT YOU ALL TO BE CAREFUL WHEN HIRING SOMEONE TO ASSIST YOU. THERE ARE REALLY HARD WORKING INDIVIDUALS SOME BEING LEGAL COUNSEL. AS IN ANY BUSINESS THERE ARE QUALITY COMPANIES AND OTHERS.

Hang in there and understand it is worth it and it takes too long. I´m working on that. With luck I´ll change the long processing times.

I was being fooled by one Asian agent, he charged us $3000 for nothing. just do some easy job filing paperwork (which I can do it myself). He even refused to meet us when we were called for interview at CIC in LA the other day. He was scared, if we were being rejected or somethin´, we have the right to get 50% refund. He promised us before, that the interview would be waived and no english test needed. So he just ignore our call, and even he resides and work in LA, he seemed try to hide and run away. I wanted to say to the officer that I was helped by agent, he refused. He said it will affect bad image of us to the officer. What a snake.

Once our interview was successful, he suddenly came to our hotel in LA and said that it wouldn´t have been successful without his work. which was not true at all. We didn´t even thank him. I know we made mistake by trusting one unlawful agent (he introduced himself as a law firm expert). He doesn´t even have one single business card!

He was so greedy too. He forced us to send paperwork by fedex, but he was too greedy to spend some of our fee for fedex. So before the application was sent 15 months ago, we had to send all the paperwork to him to be checked and he sent me back with regular mail instead (after almost 1 month wasting). that´s it!
So what the hell was the $3000 for? I got his information from a magazine. So Beware guys!

Too bad I was dealing with him way before I found ROY in this forum. Thanks Roy, you help us all. I´ve got so much information from you. I wasn´t think that filing the application for CIC was so much easier than I thought. But I learned a lesson.

After my interview, officer sent us medical forms. It´s been a while. After all disaster cold virus has been killing us lately. We are finally ready to do it this saturday. wish me luck.
