| Subject: Does self-employed work experience count? |
Have been working as a self-employed web designer for last 3+ years here in UK and was wondering if anyone could tell me if this this counted towards minimum work experience required for permanent residence visa in Canada.

If you were legally self-employed, then it does. Whether you need to meet Canadian or UK criteria for self-employment, I am not sure. I would imagine if the UK recognises you are self-employed, then you will be fine.

Since I am claiming some work experience as self-employed too, I submitted a letter to CIC along with my initial application, stating my period of self-employment, a photocopy of my US corporation data from the internet, as well as dscription of the field I worked in. I also listed a few names for reference.
I am not sure if this was Ok, because there isn´t much information on documenting work experience as self-employed. We´ll see..
If someone did it in a different way and they were successful in claiming CIC points through their method, I would definitely welcome their input.
