In Need,

Most people request such a copy through their country´s embassy, consular section. Normally, (but I don´t know how Nigerians work), for a citizen living abroad, this is the best way to get a (LEGAL) copy of a birth certificate issued in a foreign country. Each country has its own rules and regulations on how to get such a copy.

I found this info within 2 minutes for you:

Website of Nigeria High Comission in Ottawa, Canada:
http://www.nigeriahcottawa.com/

I clicked on "Consular Section" at the bottom of the screen, but there is no mentioning of birth certificates.

The only remaining option for you is to email them or give them a call. Please find their contact info below.

Telephone:

Now go get your birth certificate! :)

Good Luck!

You can try to use the date of birth given in the passport. You can also try the embassy to certify that.

Anonymous,

It is not about the date of birth. It is about proof that this woman is his mother. Parents are listed in the birth certificate, and that is the proof he looks for.

In that case also passport should serve the purpose as usually parents name is there.. Of course, if embassy is willing to certify..can also try to arrange different documents where her mom is listed as her mom and get them certified..just my 2 cents it may or may not work..

I´ve never seen a passport with parents´ names in it. Mine doesn´t. Which country lists names of parents in the passport? Just wondering..

Now that you mention Indian passports, ..I do remember seeing one with parents´ names in it. It´s funny, the reason I remember it, is because that guy was only listed with only one name (I believe it was his 1st name) in his passport. His last name was only listed in his birth certificate and was the name of something like a clan.
