Subject: Updating my marital status
  Hi!

Just like to ask an advises and insights on my current situation. I have already launched my application last 2003 and had my file number on the same year. And I am still awaiting for the next notice from the embassy since then.

When I launched my application during that time, I was still single. However, I got married last quarter of 2006. I have already sent a letter to Canadian Embassy here in Manila requesting to update my marital status.

I just like to know if this action I have made (i.e. updating may maritals status and application)would cause my waiting time to be longer? Will my processing time be affected and will be back to zero again?

Please advise because many of my friends are telling me this. Hope someone would shed some light for me on this matter.

Thanks.....

There will be some additional processing time due to your wife being added to your application. However, your aplication will NOT "be back to zero".

Thanks for the response!

Will it increment by months or years?

Will this still be the case even if no further processing was done aside from issuing the file number?

Does this upper bound will apply here in the Canadian Embassy here in Manila? Taking note that the embassy here has a high volume of application?

You should get it in reasonable time. Don´t worry about the delay. It won´t be too much.

UPDATING MY MARITAL STATUS (in reply to: Updating my marital status)
hi. I would like to share to you that you have the same case with my husband. He was still single when he applied for immigrant visa year 2001, We got married june 2004, on the same year, he updated his application and marital status, i also submitted all the necessary documents needed. It was an advantage on his application, he earned more points necessary to passed the initial process. And after long years of waiting we were granted an interview last dec 2006. And again he updated his dependents adding our 1 year old son. Most of the couples share the same fate with you guys, from single status to married, the same waiting period I should say.Fortunately we´ve passed the interview, had our medical on the same month, passed all the documents needed. And we are now waiting for their next letter, waiting period is 3 to 6 mos from now... and our long wait will be over hopefully soon... I´m going to accompany him to Canada while our baby stays here with my parents. I hope i have given you enough info and encouragement.. Enjoy life and save money you will need it for your settlement funds.GOOD LUCK!!!!
