Subject: Have COPR/Visa, can I visit Canada without landing |

Hello,
I´m in the US and I´ve just received my COPR and immigration visa on my US passport. I´d like to find an apartment and do some preparation in Toronto before actually landing so that I have an address for receiving my PR card. (As I understand it, once I´ve landed, it is hard to travel back into Canada via commercial carrier without the physical PR card and they won´t mail that to a US address.)
Can I still visit Canada without using my visa (i.e., without landing), or does my next entry into Canada automatically become my landing visit?
Thanks for any info!
Ron

(in reply to: Have COPR/Visa, can I visit Canada without landing) Your visa is a single entry visa given to you for landing, after which it is not usable anymore. For a visit, I guess you will have to get another visitor visa to be able to pay multiple visits.

(in reply to: Have COPR/Visa, can I visit Canada without landing) If you have U.S. passport, you don´t need a visa to visit Canada. Just show your passport and mention you´re just visiting for now, or better yet just show your U.S. drivers license when crossing. When you´re ready to land, tell them your landing and the process will happen then.

(in reply to: Have COPR/Visa, can I visit Canada without landing) Your question shocks me. So many wait for so long to obtain their COPR and can´t wait for the day they land and you want to delay the process??????

(in reply to: Have COPR/Visa, can I visit Canada without landing) It was a long wait, I´ll agree! :-) Trust me, I did have to fight the urge to dash right up to the border and land. But the whole application process also gave me a healthy dose of Let´s Try and Avoid More Paperwork, so if I can minimize hassles with the PR card, wait I shall!
Thanks folks for the responses. I´ll give the visit a shot and will post my experience for the archives.
