Subject: Temp Resident Visa - Is This Impossible ???
I am a Canadian and have met a man in Argentina and would like him to visit Canada. He does not have a job and does not have a bank account. Although I can pay for his ticket and his stay here, I am looking at the requirements for a temporary resident visa and thinking that there is no way the government will let him into the country. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

You´re right. If he has no job and no bank account, they are obviously going to think he´ll stay in Canada too long. Get him a job and a bank account and maybe he can show some ties to his country!

temp res visa-almost impossible (in reply to: Temp Resident Visa - Is This Impossible ???)
hi
don´t want to be a downer but my friend from zimbabwe just applied for a trv and was denied. he´s been to europe many times and always received teh appropriate visas, has a secrue job, family in the country, no criminal record, letter from employer etc. and they still wouldn´t give it to him. he needs a wife, kids and house in zimbabwe to prove that we will return. canada is crazy....a bit too much if you ask me. good luck with everything, i know it´s frustrating.

I know they say that we want to reunite families but I think they don´t want to people here can´t call their brother & sister´s on visit if they r young because they say that u might not return. They just want fees from other people & then don´t even give a option to apeal u have to reaply from all over again with new fees. It is frustrating.

I do think neetu is being a little unrealistic. If they granted visas to anyone who claimed to be ´family´ (the original poster just says she ´met a man´, they´re not married or anything) then Canada would be swarming with tourists and of course some of those are going to decide to stay if they think they can make it, especially perhaps those with no job or bank account in their own country. I do agree Canada should reunite families but it DOES grant PR and visas to those who are family - even the guy mentioned from Zimbabwe wasn´t family. So perhaps better to be cautious than to have the immigration nightmare that Europe is currently having (I know, I´m European).
