1) You need at least 1 year of continuous work experience (within the past 10 years) to qualify. You have 16 months, so you´re OK. By IA time you will have even more, which is good. More years = more points.

2) Your work experience time will add up until the date your application is being assessed (IA), IF you are still employed, show proof of that (i.e. updated reference letter)

3) To show that you are still employed when you file the application, in the "to" field of the employment history/information section write "present" instead of the actual date when you file the application. That´s what we did. We have just updated CIC with new reference letters a few days ago, new paystubs, etc. This update would bring us an additional point.

Thanx Uniden

So does CIC request for your updated reference letter or are we supposed to send them when they IA my application.

If you can gv me a briefing of what did you send them in regards to your experince at the time of your intial application?

Ahmed,

I wasn´t asked to submit an update, but my IA date is near and I did it without being asked by CIC. I am not sure if CIC would have asked me to update, but I better do it before I waste processing time.

With my application I sent:
- reference letters from previous employers, all on letterheads and with business cards attached, stating when I worked, what I worked, and my salary.

With the update I sent W-2 tax records (US), latest paystubs and an updated letter from my current employer.

On the CIC website it does say at some places that you need to have one year of continuous work experience at the time of application. However, a friend of mine initially applied with his co-op work experience which they did not consider (he checked his caips). By that time he had already finished one year of work so he submitted letters for that work and eventually got his PR.

With CIC you be proactive as that would reduce the processing time. Why would you like to wait till they ask? Try to give them as much as information as possible before IA.
