Hi Roy, Uniden and all respected members
Just curious about CAIPS. Is it correct that requesting the CAIPS file is annoying to the visa office dealing with the case ?
Thanks a lot

Hamada,

I have seen conflicting information on this. Some folks say that every time you order CAIPS notes an entry is being created in your file, some say that nobody "sees" that you have ever ordered CAIPS.

In my own opinion, I believe that when you order your CAIPS notes, you get an automatic printout of the data extracted from the CAIPS system. I bet there are log files to document time and reason of extracting the data pertaining to your case, but I don´t think it is something that affects the actual processing of your case.

I would also welcome more information on this issue, I thought about it in the past. If anyone knows FACTS, please let me know. I can do the guessing part by myself.

Either way, it is certainly NOT annoying the visa office that processes your case, since CAIPS notes are obtained from Ottawa only, regardless of where your application was filed.

Ofcourse, its annoying if you order your caips every now and then. Otherwise, they do not care.

People just say that its annoying cause some of them were asked in interview why they ordered their caips.

Any time a government employee is asked to do work they are annoyed but NO it is not a problem. That employee has a job because certain people pay the $5. dollars to request their CAIPS.

If processing had not increased by 600% in the last decade no one would be requesting CAIPS.

Uniden is 100% correct the CAIPs are pulled off a computer screen in Ottawa and anything they don´t want you to see will be listed as a NCB or non computer based entry. Requesting the whole file never really gets you the whole file anyways.

Try to take it easy and relax but not knowing something can be real stressful. It is your call but nothing negative will ever be considered because nowadays requesting CAIP´s is like going to a variety store---very normal.

Roy,

So other than the guy who pulls the information from that computer screen in Ottawa, does the visa processing office(r) know that you have ordered CAIPS?

Is there a record on how many times, or IF you have ever ordered your CAIPS notes? Is it something that CIC-Buffalo can see?

I am sure there is a record of how many times you request a CAIPS file. I requested one myself and it contained information about the e-mails and faxes I sent. So, I believe they keep track of correspondence the applicant makes. But I am sure its not annoying nor it creates any kind of risk. The application says its your right to request a CAIPS file if you wish and you pay a fee for it. Anything that has a fee for service is NOT ANNOYING...

If a reason is asked for requesting CAIPS file, you may say you wished to know if there are any documents pending from your side so you can gather those or may say just for the heck of it...you choose the answer;)
