Subject: FBI
  Hello everybody,
I have time till may 15 to submit the FBI clearence and I could send the fingerprint card on FEb 10th.Now the problem is that the canada immigration has given me strick deadlines to comply till 15 th may otherwise my case will be refused and i will have to re-apply but the FBI is not ready to accept my request for expedited service and thay say that it takes 16-18 weaks. The FBI say´s that this time cannot be shortened unless there is a life and death situation.
What should I do?shall I get a lawyer? This is a life and death situation for me but not for FBI or canada immigration officers.

Read carefully!

I have received my FBI fingerprint report in just 10 days two days ago!

Forget about the 16-18 weeks! Write a deadline (doesn´t need to be May, write something in April for example) on the envelope and on the cover letter. FBI will return it in time for you meet your deadline.

Do not explain anything to FBI. Just write, by hand, on the envelope and cover letter:
"REQUIRED BY 04/11/2007"

IF (and ONLY IF) you do not receive your FBI report by that date, come back and I will tell you what to do. Till then.. RELAX! Everything will be OK, one way or the other.

Good Luck!

Thanks a lot, Uniden. The FBI received my fingerprints on February 12th. I wrote on the envelope "Feb 15th Deadline. 60days extension given". I made a second request to the Canada immigration and received a final deadline of May 15th. I called FBI them but they dont listen! Its very important for me. What should I do now?

Between 02/12 and 02/15 are only 3 days! You have provided a deadline, but definitely not a realistical one, don´t you think?!?
Regardless of how desperate you are, you have keep in touch with reality.

"60 days extension given" could be misinterpreted for 02/15 + 60 days = 04/15

I have learned one thing: Don´t provide too much information! Not to the FBI, not to anyone. People only see what they want to see, or need to see; everything else is either invisible, or could complicate matters, add to confusion, etc.

Anyway, I am hopeful you will receive your prints very soon. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week.. But BEFORE May.
Please let me know when you receive your prints. I have received mine in 10 days, but this was record time and doesn´t represent the average turnaround time with the FBI.

Best Luck!

Thank you for the hopes given. I knew Feb 15th was unrealistic deadline. But couldnt avoid writing the date as it was the actual deadline. Waiting with my fingers crossed. Will let you know when clearance is received & meet ya if Immigration happens.

Anyone who is applying for FBI clearance..DO NOT FORGET TO WRITE A DEADLINE ON THE ENVELOPE. WRITE ANY DATE, A PHONY OR REAL BUT WRITE A DATE AND YOU WILL GET THE CLEARANCE SOON OR IT WILL TAKE 16 TP 18 WEEKS..

Our request was received jan 8 with a note of Jan 24 deadline. I emailed them about this request and they said they cannot expedite the process. They were able to open my envelope only after 2 months! They mentioned that they will try to mail me the result within 7 to 10 business days. Good for Uniden who received his Clearance after 10 days. I don´t know why they were not able to expedite my process since i also mentioned a deadline... Well, probably this is what we call "In God´s time" :)
