Subject: Where to apply for dual citizenship
I´ve just got my Daugherts (age 6 months) UK passport in the mail and we plan to leave to Canada for good next week. Me, the mom, am Canadian and at the moment my daughter is only British and Dad and I want to apply for her dual citizenship once we get to Canada. Question is where should I go once I get home in Ontario?

So your saying that I should go to a British Embassy to get my Daughter canadian citizen ship?? shes already a british citizen, I need her to be Canadian.

I went to that site and I´m still lost. It says on the ´Worksheet´ if your parent was born outside of Canada or her parents were born outside Canada and choose no you cant apply :S CONFUSED

Desperate got something wrong. Nobody tries to apply for British citizenship. It is the Canadian citizenship we´re talking about.

Denise, I know you are a Canadian citizen, and it is good that you were a Canadian citizen at your daughter´s birth.

Were you born in Canada?

Denise, if you are referring to this page ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizen/retention-worksheet.html ), then answer the questions as if you were your daughter.

Denise,

I am confused myself. I don´t want to guide you the wrong way, so maybe we should both wait for someone more experienced with these kinds of things.. I bet someone knows the answer.

If I were you I would call the Call Centre as soon as I arrive in Canada. There isn´t much you can do prior to your arrival in Canada anyway.

Good Luck!

Ya, I got it wrong. You might wanna call the Canadian consulate in UK before moving or call the citizenship office after reaching Canada. I am also not an expert in this issue but thinking out loud...Good luck

Doesn´t this answer it?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/retain.html

Contact the Embassy in the UK. OR if you want to do it in Canada, send the application for your daughter to Syndey, NS.
