| Subject: Average time for Inland spouse sponsorship |

Greetings to everyone, I am in Canada on a visitor visa and just got married (Feb.3), my wife is Canadian Citizen. Can anyone tell me from their experience or from what you guys have heard on the AVERAGE processing time. I heard numerous stories, some say 12 mth some say less....and some say "it dependes on each individual case" meaning the amount of evidence provided that can prove that the relationship is real.
Any response would greatly be appreciated!!

For approval in principle: 8-9 months (you can apply for a SIN after this). See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times/process-in.html#pr_card .
After this expect to wait max. another 8 months for full PR. I heard you can start enquiring if it has been 18 months, but not to bother before then as they won´t make a big deal of it.
MAKE SURE YOU KEEP RENEWING YOUR VISITOR VISA BEFORE IT EXPIRES. Details are obviously on the CIC´s site.

Thanks for the info. After getting approval and obtaining a SIN would i be able to leave the country? Or I would need to wait until I received my full PR?

It´s strongly advised that you wait until you have full PR. Don´t want to chance it...

Vim,
You should be aware that once you get the approval in principle you may apply for a work permit which it says in capital letters in the bottom "Does not authorize re-entry"
What that is telling you is that you may leave Canada but there is no guarantee that CBSA / CIC will let you back in to the country.
They might, don´t get me wrong but be aware that they might NOT also.
It is risky to leave Canada without getting your PR.
