Subject: Problem in Moving a minivan
I thought I could get a Uhaul truck and put my minivan (honda odessey) on the carrier attached to it and drive that way, but found out that Uhaul won´t let the minivan to be carried that way saying it´s too big.

I´m trying to figure out what would be the best way to move my stuff and van to canada? any ideas would be appreciated.

Few options I was thinking could be, moving stuff in uhaul truck, getting a U.S visa and coming back to drive the car to canada. Of course that´s twice the drive. Second thing I thought could be someone move my stuff and I drive along in my minivan, but don´t know of any companies yet who would do this for a reasonable price. I´m also not sure how long it takes to get a U.S visa to get back cause I don´t have a U.S passport.

Thanks for your help.

Moving companies can move your vehicle for you, along with all your goods, all in one van. But as you say that can be expensive.

In my opinion the least expensive option is through 2 moves. Drive your minivan first, then 2nd time with a rental truck and all your goods. But make sure the rental company provides correct paperwork that allows the rented truck to be taken into Canada, otherwise Canadian Imigration may not let you in.

I´m wondering how you can be in the U.S. without a valid passport or necessary visa. You can´t get a visa anyway without a passport.

Sorry, I misread your passport comment. You have a fgoreign passport then, and if your U.S. visa is not multple-entry, you´ll need to re-apply of a visa to do move option 2.

Richard, thanks for your input. Well I am in the U.S on work visa which is reaching it´s expiration anyways and there are no renewals offered on it. I´d be looking for a visitor´s visa to get back to the u.s for the 2nd move. That could be a pain depending on how the process of getting a visitor´s visa is. Maybe someone with experience can shed some light on it.

Also, does anyone know of a reliable company who can move your car to canada? I might consider that and driving a u-haul myself taking goods.
