Subject: Dear Faisal or some1 can help
  Hello Faisal,

I am just going to apply for immigration under skilled worker. I have finished my studies from a college in Toronto with coop experience( 1 year exp basically 8 months + 6 months all exp. was paid). I read in you topic by u before tht coop experience is not counted. So did they refuse your application?? Or dont they ask you for a experience letter again when they do your IA which is usually after a yr by then i will hv 2 yrs exp. ( 1 yr coop and 1 yr regular)..

If you or some can help in this regard....it will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

If you remember my replies to your previous postings, I had also said the same thing to you. Co-op work experience as part of degree requirements is not counted towards immigration. You can take risk by filing the application now if you are sure that you will have one year of continuous work experience by the time they do your IA, though application requirements say that at the time of application you should have one year of work experience.

One person I know had applied in 04 with co-op experience has been awarded 56 points but till now they have not rejected his application.

Hey,

Thanxx for your reply. But my case is a bit different. Let me explain....I found the jobs myself n got my coodinator to consider them as coop. Shit i could have work without getting them considered as coop. So basically my employer did not hire me as coop but i got it counted as coop at my school.

And 1 more thing i have 6 months(May05-Oct05) exp from 2005 and 11 months till now from April 2006. Should i wait for a month more to hv 1 yr continuous work exp. or i already hv a yr of continus work exp.

Plzz help ..thanksssss

Its better for you to wait for one more month as clearly you do not have one year continuous work experience. You can prepare the file and send it off when you have finished one year of continuous work experience. Why would you want to have sleepless nights?.

If you don´t like the above then you can claim your co-op and apply. You can then update them with you current job letter cause your IA will be done only after a year or so.

They will not give you points for COOP work experince. They didn´t reject my file but they didn´t do any thing else with it as well. I know one person who got points for COOP work experince but that was four years ago, but they don´t give point for it anymore.
