Subject: Invesrment for retiring in Canada
  Hey, everybody!
I?m quite experienced worker. )) At present moment a captain of heavy plane in one of a Gulf companies. Bad, but I?m already 46, however with good health and good perspectives for next 15-20 years.
Why I want to get Canadian residence or citizenship?
Current nationality of mine, my spouse and kids is Russia. We used to live in Uzbekistan before and then I applied for Russian citizenship mainly to get work in Moscow in one of the fast growing air companies. I got it, but shortly after I realized that I wasn?t able to live and especially work in the post-soviet environment.
Now I sponsoring of my daughter studying in MI university. Son is going to be a pilot and most probably this year will go to USA or Canada to get license in flight school.
After that (in a year or two) I?ll be able to invest to Canada preparing my retirement.
The question: is it possible to apply and successfully get Canadian RP and at the same time continue working outside of Canada?

As a matter of fact in most cases you MUST have to apply from outside of Canada.

That´s for sure I´ii apply from outside.
However, I´d like to know if it´s possible to get residence permit while working outside.
To find such well payed job in Canada for me is impossible. But I´d like to invest in my and my kids future in Canada.

OK,

You apply from your home country for a permanent residence status, you HAVE to include your family members even if they are not coming to you to Canada.

Once the whole process is done and approved, you will receive an immigrant visa. Then you have to land in Canada and become a permanent resident at the POE. (port of entry).

If there are no complications and the Immigrant visas are approved, they will be issued at the same time.

Take a look at the official website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
You will find most of the answers in there.

Cheers

I would just add to Bill´s comments that once you receive your immigration visa, you and the family must land at a Canadian port of entry within a few months.

But after landing and receiving your permanent residence cards, you (and your family if so desired) would be free to leave Canada immediately and continue with your job in aviation overseas. However, in order to keep your permanent residence status, you (and family) would have to return to Canada within 3 years and then live continuously in Canada for the next 2 years.

The rule is permanent residents must live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 years to keep their status. One way to avoid this probelem is to live in Canada continuously for the first 3 years and acquire Canadian citizenship.
