Any idea how long is the PCC from India valid ? Is it six months or a year ?

PCC is valid for 6 mopnths unless otherwise mentioned on it

PCC is valid for six months. You can submit PCC older than that if you can prove that you have not visited India even for one day since you got that PCC.

I think Annonymous 2 is wrong. A friend of mine had to resend a new one. I myself was asked to send an updated FBI clearance even though I had never visited the US after leaving. Not even in transit!!

My friends did what I told in my earlier post, however you may be right cause immigration Canada is unpredicatble.
I also have a presentation from an immigration officer which also says this.

Correction: PCC validity is 3 months not 6.
