Subject: Letter from Detroit office
  Hi all,
I just received a letter from the Detroit office stating that I need to submit my MS degree. The letter says that "we have completed the initial assessment of your application and further processing will be done after receiving the required documents. My questions are 1) do I need to send my original degree? and 2) if I send my MS degree today, how long would the Detroit office take to make a decision on my application?

my Timeline
Application: Dec 1, 2005
AOR: Dec 8, 2005
Request for IELTS: May 2005
IELTS submitted Sep 8, 2006
File transfer to Detroit office: Dec 10, 2006
letter need additional docs March 30, 2007

Thanks,
Hammad

You may send copies of your US degrees. They will not ask you for your originals. Send your documents asap. You will get request for medical examinations in June. Along with request for medicals, they will ask additional documents like FBI clearance and references from your employers since the date of your application. After you send your FBI clearance, you will get request for passport in about 2 months. By December 2007, your process will be completed and you will have time till June 2008 to land in Canada.

Good luck and start working for FBI clearance imediately. They will ask for an updated FBI clearance even if you have submitted earlier. If you are ffrom India/Pakistan or whereever, get police clearances from your home country and all the countries you lived for 6 months or more since attaining 18 years of age. For police clearance from India, contact Indian embassy.

In my previous posts you will find info about FBI clearance etc.

You may thank me after your job is done ;)

Degree certificate is to submitted as a notarized copy though simple copies also seem to work. Send it as soon as possible you should get IA in matter of weeks.
