Subject: Sending goods (heavy stuff) before you land?
Is there a possibility to send your good about a month before you land? I know after the landing you can do it through goods to follow list but am wondering if sending your goods before you land is a possibility. If it is possible, could someone please let me know how to do this following the proper procedure.

Do you have to give photocopies of landing papers to the driver carrying your goods in the truck? I´m just not sure if its gonna work that way.

Need some input advise on it, or any solutions you guys may want to suggest? The issue I am facing is that I cannot pull my car with a uhaul truck as it is havier than their allowed limit and I don´t have anyone to drive the uhaul truck with me. I also don´t want to land first since I won´t be able to return back, and if my goods are coming after me on a truck service of some sort, should they have any trouble in crossing the border It would be a trouble situation for me since I won´t be able to get back to the U.S to take care of it.

Any helpful advise is much appreciated..
Thanks.

P.S: I know goods like clothes and other small items can be sent via UPS or something but here we are talking about heavier stuff including furniture and electronics etc.

If you try to ship goods into Canada before you land you will pay duties on the value of everything - assuming they allow the items into Canada in the first place. Depending on how long you anticipate waiting for PR approval, and the cost of shipping plus the value of your items, it might be worth it to put your valuables in storage until after you have PR. If Customs won´t allow them in, you´ve wasted shipping charges, and if you have things that have significant value you may pay high taxes on your stuff. You´ll have to weigh the difference between the cost of all that, and the cost of storage.

Hi

First thing - if you are in the US - contact Upack.com , I got a very reasonable quote and they have a very good arrangement.

I think we have to land first and then the stuff can cross the border. I contacted the UPack services, they did not tell me any such thing, but the stuff following us seems to be logical otherwise they would have had another list called goods coming before landing.

Thanks
