I came to live in south west Ontario in september 2006 and had spoken to a immigration lawyer while still living in the UK .I was told that I should have no problems getting a temporary work permit by the immigration lawyer but then I came to canada and have found out that things just are not so simple .I have been advised to wait till september 2007 when I will have been living as a canadian citizens common law same sex partner for a full year and then apply for permanant residents status and at the same time apply for a open work permit . I have been offered 2 jobs already and was wondering if there is any way to achieve the temporary work permit for those job in the very near future .1 job is in a marketing company and another is just a job at a McDonalds restaurant
