Subject: F1 USA visa and CAN immigration application
  Hi
I want to send my documents for immigration to canada to the Vienna office this month the processing time there is 9 months. But in August I want to start a 2 year graduate study programme in the US. Will my application of immigration to Canada affect my chances for getting a US F1 Visa? I plan to move to Canada after I finish my studies in the US

Thanks,

I apply for immigration to Canada after I renew my US visa, however as far as I know, you are talking about two different countries so one VISA application to US does not affect your application to CANADA.

You are supposed to apply to the "nearest canadian consulate" of your country of residence so if you apply in Vienna and while processing you change country at least you have to tell them your change of address!!! I don´t know if that delays the process for Canadian PR but that has nothing to do with your F1 visa.

yes it is two different countries, but I will have to get a police certificate from the FBI ... and I don´t know if the US embassy will be able to find out that I requested the certificate and why ?!?!
Normally when you go for a visa interview (for my F1 visa) you have to prove that you plan to return to your country, and by applying for Canadian PR it is obvous I don´t plan to return to my country.
I don´t want to jeopardize my F1 visa and my studies next year, but at the same time I don´t know if I should wait till September to file for canadian PR

How come you need police cleareanc from FBI ? means that you had been living in the US for more than 6 months earlier ? you did not say that.

Still I don´t think the US embassy will find out you applied for the certificate because you need to apply for the certificate at the FBI ONLY so they are two separate entities and also they are other reasons to apply for this certificate other than Canadian PR ... I wouldn´t worry about it.

Ok, here is my story ... sorry for not being clear earlier
I lived in the US for 5 years 2001-2006 March
I am in my home country now March 2006-present
I want to go to grad school (MBA) in the US, the programme starts in September 2007, therefore I have to apply for F1 in August.
so FBI and the US embassies don´t cooperate? the FBI offices are usually AT THE US EMBASSIES here in Europe so I was thinking that they exchange information
Thansk

Ok I see. I don´t know about FBI offices in Europe even though I am from Europe myself.

Well one thing I know for sure is that it takes 4 months to get police clearance certificate from the FBI in USA so why don´t you apply first for your F1 visa and as soon as you have it apply for police clearance certificate, then your problem is solved.

But anyway, somehow it is not their business if you want to immigrate to Canada. All they want to know is that you will not stay in USA after your visa expires, that´s all. And by immigrating to Canada, that is what you will do so it is good for them.

Ok thanks,
I guess the smart thing to do is wait for like 4 months. I just hope the canadians don´t increase the required points because I would be really upset than

Thanks
