Subject: processing time at Buffalo
I have just submitted all my papers for the PR at the Buffalo office in March 2007. It took me 6 months to get all papers together (including all the police clearance from all the countries I lived and all right size of photographs ...)

I have read that people who use Law firms can get the AOR in one week or so. I know that it has been only 3 weeks since they receive my application but I just wonder if I did the right thing by doing it by myself ? Also how long it normally takes to get the letter of confirmation ? Does it really depend on individual cases or on the number of application they receive everyday at their office ?

Also I am on a H1-B visa and it will expire in July 2009 (yes I know there is time) but are there any chance that the PR will be processed and all done by then ? It says that processing times is 24 months approximately ? Thanks for info.

You should get AOR in 3-6 weeks. If you want to know whether your file has been accepted by buffalo you can go to the bank to inquire whether the money order has been encashed or not. This way you can know about the file even before you get AOR. If your file is well prepared and presented and you do not have any serious medical condition you should get PR by July 2009 though there are no guarantees.

Yeah - you would be able to get PR by July-2009. It took 18 months for me.
