Hi I am in the process of finding a decent job in Vacouver area.
Can someone advise which fields/sectors are in demand...
basically my expertise is shipping/transportation/logistics/port terminals/operations.
Further which are the regular jobs which one may get instantly just to pay the bills in the interim period.I mean in US one gets employed within a week if u r willing to work in dept.stores/malls/fast food joints/gas station.
How reliable/effective are the job websites like monster/yahoo etc or is it just networking only.Lot of these website in US are just for name sake with no response once u apply.
Any experts in the vancouver area??

(in reply to: Vancouver jobs) the retail, service and construction sector are screaming for workers. there is 4,900 jobs posted in the Vancouver Sun today in the help wanted section.
try workopolis.ca, http://www.britishcolumbiajobs.com/
Your skill set should be a good fit in Vancouver but I really respect your willingness to accept transitional employment until you find your perfect fit.
you will do just fine.

(in reply to: Vancouver jobs) Thanks Sharon and Anne for the websites.
Sharon I need to be realistic and get in the groove before hitting the right job.
I work in US as Operations Manager but I have to start all over again in Canada. But then I will have the stability of immigration and more important a place where I can say its my home and I will not have to leave.
Sharon I see u´ve been a tremendous help to all of us with yr great inputs. May God bless you always.
