Subject: overstay question
I am planning on overstaying in the United States as a Canadian citizen by 2 months. I am here as a visitor no visa needed. I crossed the border by car. What will they ask me when I drive back through the border? will they ask me how long I have been in the States? what reason do I give them for overstaying? if they ask? What if any are the consequences for my 2 month overstay?

yes, they will ask you how long you have been in the US. They ask that question of anyone with Canadian plates on their car. They likely have record of your plates or your passport crossing in to the US.

What reason do you give?? who knows... you have not told us. I strongly advise you to tell the truth. You can say sorry if you misunderstood the rules. There is no ´sorry´ for being fraudulent.

what will they do... have no idea.

There is a share data base between the US and Canadian border.
When the CBSA officer checks your passport in the band reader, it will create a record of the day that you left the US and the Canadian officer will ask you "how long have you been away" just to verify it.

The consequence is that more likely you won´t be admited back in the US if you try to re-enter in the future.

NEVER lie to border authorities ... or to any immigration-related authorities. That will just cause you problem in future
