Subject: Need advice
I am looking for an advice. I am from Japan. I am planning to apply for permanent residence federal skilled worked class and had filled up the application form. To transfer necessary processing fee, the officials in the post office and Bank here in Japan told me that, they can transfer the money only in terms of US dollar. I wonder, if it is ok to pay the processing fee in US dollar (equivalent to Canadian currency) and send the proof of payment to you together with the application form? I had inquired to Canadian Embassy in Manila, but has not got reply. In the official web site of Canadian Embassy in Manila, they have not mentioned in detail about the processing fee in other currencies. Thank you very much for your kind cooperation.

Sakura

You may contact the Canadian Embassy again to get a response. I searched on the internet but didnt find an answer to your question. Sending USD might not help as it is clearly stated on the CIC website that any fees sent in currency other than Canadian $ will be returned.

* Try other banks in Japan
* Try private Exchanges like Thomas Cook etc. if you have those in Japan

May be Roy will have a better answer.

Good luck.

I also searched on internet to find your answer but could not. Since the Manila office is taking care of so many countries there must be a way to pay your fees.

At Buffalo you can pay in US dollars yes of course it is in USA but try to find out if US dollars are acceptable in Manila ... there must be a way as many people apply there.

At worst if you cannot really get any answer from anywhere including the Manila office and cannot get CAN$ you can always try to pay in US$ and see if they accept it (maybe not the best way but you can try if you can´t get any answers at all!)

How about paying on-line using your credit card? We did it that way and it was easy to print off the receipt and mail it off with the application.

Dear friends, (almost perfect, CBV333, analogconversation)
Thank you all for your kind suggestions! Like as you suggested, I will inquire again in Manila office and try to find out some other options of payement. So far, I had inquired the post office bank and the Hokuriku bank in Japan. They told me that they have that type of payement system until last year, but now the rules got changed and can offer no more service in other currencies, except than US dollar. I will sincerely appreciate if there are other suggestions in this discussion group.
